ADR-0005: Promote the working branch to main

Context

The repository was created empty, so the first pushed branch (claude/claude-md-docs-e4x1T) became the default — there was no conventional mainline.

Decision

Create and maintain a conventional main branch holding the work; keep it fast-forwarded with the dev branch each push. Setting main as the repository default is a GitHub Settings action for the Principal.

Consequences

  • A standard mainline exists; future work can target it.
  • Until the default is switched in Settings, automation keyed to “the default branch” still sees the dev-branch name (identical content).
